Heritage Whiskey Tasting

Discover the Origins of Irish Whiskey

Friday, May 15, 7.30pm
@ McCaffrey's Bar, Tralee

Join us for a Heritage Whiskey Tasting in support of Meals on Wheels Tralee. Join us on a journey through the rich and fascinating history of Irish Whiskey - In a way, you've never seen (and tasted) it before.

Your experience begins in 14th-century Kilkenny, with the earliest written records of Aqua Vitae - the grandfather of modern whiskey. From there, we follow the myths and stories west to the rugged hills of Connemara, once a hotspot of illicit poitín-making in the 1800s. Finally, we return to present-day Kerry, where today's whiskey-makers craft Irish whiskey the Kerry way.

Each chapter of the journey will be told through stories, and is paired with an authentic drink:

1300s: The original Aqua Vitae, reborn from the Red Book of Ossory

1800s: Heritage Poitín (100% legal - we promise!)

Today: 3 x local Kerry craft whiskeys

- generously donated by Portmagee Whiskey, Skellig Six18 Distillery and The Liberator Whiskey

This is not your traditional sip & chat whiskey tasting - This is an immersive exploration of history, heritage, and flavour through storytelling.

€49.00 per person - over 18s only (limited availability)

Proceeds will be donated to Meals on Wheels Tralee.
